With the rainy season comes an onslaught of bugs. It seems each evening brings a new species of little insect critters. But what I might see as a nuisance, the Zambians see as a blessing. These particular insects are gathered by all and fried to a crunchy perfection before being devoured. No, we have not, nor do we intend to eat them. However, we gladly encourage the kids to come hunt for them at our house!!!
This is more our style of taste. This is a perfect example of American and Zambian blend. When in Choma we like to stop by the Museum for a nice sit down meal. This is a chicken burger, fries (chips), rape, and cabbage. It was delicious!
Another visitor with the rainy season, millipedes and centipedes. This one was about 8 inches long and our fearless dog, Danu, took it on and took it down! Good Danu!
This leaf hopper is about four inches long and the Christrmas doodle bug is about 1/4 inch.
