Church in Isoka, Zambia

We found ourselves walking to the Isoka Baptist Fellowship Church on August 21, 2016 with the Kimbrough family.
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”  Galatians 5:16

Culturally, in Zambian churches, the men sit on one side and the women on the other, so I found myself happily sitting with Isaac and Amos during worship trying to sing from a Bemba songbook.  American tunes were recognized, but the words not so much!
“Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!  Serve the LORD with gladness!  Come into his presence with singing!”  Psalm 100:1-2

Notice the condition of this modern Zambian classroom as the church meets in a room of the Isoka Primary educational complex every Sunday for Sunday School and worship.
“Do your best to present yourselves to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”  2 Timothy 2:15

After worship, members and guests visit under the covered porch of the school room used for worship.
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”  Acts 2:42

The last three photographs show the progress made on this church’s new building.  In February 2013, Ocker Brethren Church of Temple, Texas generously gave the funding needed to complete the purchase of the land the new building will one day occupy. This building site is in a prime location with many new folks moving into an area where the greatest growth is happening in Isoka..   The church leaders in Isoka asked me to send a big THANK YOU for Ocker’s faithfulness in giving.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”  2 Corinthians 9:7

All Around the House...School

The Kimbrough Home School is an efficient machine--four grade levels and usually only one teacher.  School literally takes place ALL AROUND THE HOUSE!  The learning process is in full swing for all four students AND a couple of "guest" teachers!

 Isabel at her special area.

Abigail's spot with her learning aid.

Isaac's spot in the school room

Amos' spot...at least for math with Grandpa!

We even used the closet for a science experiment!

This guy is serious about his school dress!

Even Spice wanted to join the History of Texas lesson.

Amos reading to his big brother.  This master reading teacher loves this picture!!!

 Amos reading...look at that concentration!

 Even Chemistry with Teacher Grandpa.

SCHOOL IN THE NORTH

We are spending the month of August, during our school break at New Day, with our Kimbroughs in northern Zambia.  We are so thrilled and blessed to be able to help Dawnya kick off the school year for Isabel-8th grade, Abigail-7th grade, Isaac-5th grade, and Amos-3rd grade.  Where has the time gone?!?!?!

Back to School Party

First day of school during large group time.  Amos sure looked sharp in his tie!

THE BEST PART

Recently we had the privilege of getting together with all 11 of our immediate family in Lusaka.  This truly is the best part of being in Zambia!  How exciting it is to see God's plan pan out!  Proverbs 17:6a says, "Children's children are a crown to the aged,..."

Who is the photo bomber?  Cambree, of course!
